Seattle startup Scope 5 has scooped up $500,000 in angel financing, money that it will use to build out its cloud-based service for tracking sustainability data. Funding was provided in part by the Northwest Energy Angels.

“Increasingly companies are connecting the social value of emissions reductions with the business value of reduced costs,” said Scope 5 CEO Yoram Bernet in a statement. Bernet is a veteran of Microsoft, AT&T and Bell Labs.

The Scope 5 tool is designed to help companies track sustainability programs, potentially reducing their energy intake and cutting costs.

The service is currently being used by Expeditors, with vice president Dan Wall saying that that Scope 5 allows the company to “easily track, organize, consolidate and report real-time data in a standardized format.”
