Cadenza Innovation is developing the next generation Lithium-Ion battery technology to capitalize on the upcoming electric vehicle and grid storage initiatives. Cadenza is poised to become a world leader in battery architecture, performance and safety.
Cadenza focuses on cell architecture with the target to improve the energy density through packaging the cells more effectively. Their cell design combines the best properties from wound jelly rolls and large prismatic cells and allows for game-changing high energy density at low cost for EV, PHEV and grid markets. As battery safety is key, Cadenza’s battery product architecture and design prevent the thermal runaway that causes batteries to catch fire – while also enabling industry-leading energy density and low cost.
Driven by a team of industry experts, many of whom held key leadership roles at lithium-ion battery cell, pack and system providers, Cadenza does not intend to be a battery manufacturer, but aims to license its technology to global battery manufacturers and others.
Cadenza has been the recipient of a $4M grant from the Department of Energy’s ARPA-E program to further develop the Cadenza technology for the electric vehicle market and $1M from the New York State Energy Research & Development Authority (NYSERDA) for commercialization of Cadenza grid storage solutions.
